3. FAQ - Search & Availability
What is the format of the occupancy parameter?
See Occupancy Format.
What is the maximum number of rooms and guests?
The API has no fixed maximum. Each room's capacity is set by the hotel, and rooms that can't hold the requested guests return no options.
How many hotels can I search at once?
There is no fixed limit on hotel_uids, but larger searches take longer. Most searches answer within 25 seconds; set your client timeout to at least 60 seconds.
Some hotels returned no options. Why?
Either the hotel has no availability for the dates and occupancy, or one of our sources didn't answer in time. In the second case the response is still successful (HTTP 200), and an errors list next to options names what failed:
{
"options": [ ... ],
"errors": [{"supplier": "XX", "error": "Timed out after 25s; fetch continues and results will be cached"}]
}
Late results are cached, so searching again shortly afterwards usually returns them.
Which dates can I search?
check_in and check_out use the format YYYY-MM-DD. Check-in can't be in the past, and check-out must be after check-in.
Which currencies are supported?
Request prices in EUR or USD. Always read the currency from the currency field next to each amount.
How are prices expressed?
As integers in cents of the currency: {"currency": "USD", "value": 19100} is USD 191.00. This applies to option, room, add-on, cancellation and booking prices.
Are on-request options returned?
By default, searches return only options with status AVAILABLE. On-request options can be enabled for your account; contact support@apixv.com.
Which meal plans (board codes) are used?
See the Board Code List.
